Importing WinANT Skins

This topic describes how to add (or import) a pre-prepared skin into WinANT.

The skin will be provided by the skin developer as a series of HTML, CSS and text files in a ZIP file. The ZIP file will also contain an XML file detailing the skin elements. That XML file will be named in the format *_winant_skin.xml.

WinANT skins can be quite sophisticated, and some users may create feature-rich skins for sharing with other WinANT users. Although it is possible to manually adjust the WinANT skins XML file used to build the Tools > Apply Skin menu, it is possible to import a pre-prepares set of skin files, so that the skin is automatically added to the menu.

  1. Unzip the supplied ZIP file into the [Program Files]\HyperWrite\WinANT\resource folder (the resource folder).
  2. Start WinANT.
  3. From the Tools menu, select Import Skin.... A File Open dialog box will display the contents of the resource folder, allowing you to select the skin XML file.
  4. Select the skin you wish to add to your WinANT installation, and click Open.
    • If there is no skin of the same name, the skin will be added, and a message box will display confirming successful installation.
    • If a skin with the same name already exists in the WinANT skins file, you will be prompted to overwrite the old skin settings, or cancel the import.
The Tools > Apply Skin menu will be updated to include the new skin.
